Monte Linas is located just off the pedestrian street near Piazza Yenne. We had originally booked a table inside, but the interior felt cramped, with low ceilings, cold air conditioning, and our table positioned uncomfortably close to the toilets. We opted instead to sit outside. At first, mosquitoes were a problem, but the staff eventually brought out repellent, which made the experience more pleasant.

The outdoor atmosphere is lively, with close-set tables along the wall. It’s good for people-watching, though it can feel crowded at times and the occasional beggar may approach.

We chose the tasting menu (€45), which included about five courses and half a bottle of Vermentino.
• Starters: The swordfish tartare and tuna in olive oil were both excellent — fresh and flavorful.
• Second course: Oysters with olive oil and lemon, simple but good.
• Pasta: Gnocchi with saffron and fish was fine, but felt more like a filler course.
• Fried course: The fritto misto of baby squid and prawns was average and not to our taste.
• Main: Tuna with pistachio was very good — delicate, fresh, and well-prepared.
• Desserts: The ricotta and pear tart was excellent, while the fried ravioli dessert was only average.

Coperto was €2 per person.

Overall, the tasting menu is the best option here — generous, varied, and with some excellent highlights, especially the tartare, oysters, and tuna. Service was attentive, and despite a few average dishes, the overall experience was enjoyable and worth recommending.

Our experience at Monte Linas was rather average — a bit of a disappointment considering the many positive reviews we had read beforehand. The restaurant is well located right in the heart of the city’s restaurant district, and the outdoor seating area is definitely a plus.

For starters, we shared the octopus with potatoes, which was nicely cooked and flavorful, though the portion of potatoes could have been a bit more generous.

The main courses, however, were quite underwhelming. We shared the shrimp pasta and the fregola. The shrimp pasta was the biggest disappointment — the portion was quite small and surprisingly, there was only one small shrimp in the entire dish. The fregola was decent but nothing special, especially compared to the high expectations set by earlier reviews.

The house wine wasn’t listed on the menu, but it turned out to be a local white wine, which was quite nice.

Overall, the experience was okay, but nothing exceptional. If you’re looking for a quick and decent Italian meal in the city center, this place might work for you, just don’t expect anything extraordinary.
