Stumbled on this little restaurant while wandering Diamante for the first time and it was really nice. The owner's English is waay better than my Italian and she was very patient and helpful walking us through the menu and even let us try a few things before our meals arrived (picked zucchini? and some little savory fried dough nuggets of deliciousness).

For our meals we had the pasta with sausage, swordfish with Calabrian onions and some meatballs. They were all really good (my favorite was the meatballs). For dessert, we had a chocolate ice cream truffle type dish that was heavy on the chocolate on the front end and ended with a spicy kick, as well as an espresso and a Calabrian bergamot liquor.

Overall, everything was great. We were so hungry that we kept forgetting to take food pics before we dug in, so keep that in mind with our photos!

We were given this restaurant recommendation by a local, and it didn’t disappoint! The owner (Solarea—apologize for the spelling!) was very patient and walked us through the menu with our minimal Italian. The food was amazing! Even though it was described as “typical” Calabrian, it was anything but. We had both shared appetizers, which included local meats, cheeses, marmalades, and bomba (Calabrian chili paste), as well as pickled vegetables and fried fritters of different varieties. All of it, including the local Rosato, was great. Make sure you stop by if you get a chance!!

This is an adorable gem that you need to experience! The food, view, and atmosphere are amazing. Make sure to try the chilli oil that is incredible (a little goes a long way) and the Spritz al cedro. Simply one of the best in Diamante!

My wife and I spent three days in Diamante and ate lunch twice at Gusto Antico. The first time, I ordered a pork chop- without a doubt the greatest pork chop I've eaten in my life. Grilled to perfection, seasoned perfectly, the fat meltingly tender, the meat crispy on the outside.

The fish was outstanding, the pasta was perfect.

The staff is friendly, warm and welcoming.

We had the antipasti and the orata with spaghetti to share and a white wine made with black olives and it was all fantastic, some of the best I have ever had and I’m a local. The lady serving us was amazing, always taking care of us and recommending good things. On top of that we could see the sunset from our table too!

We had a lovely meal here last night. The chef made a vegetarian starter and second course especially for me. My husband had swordfish with sweet red onion and potatoes and peppers mixed. We both used our bread to mop up every last bit! Then we shared a cheesecake that was light and creamy. Wonderful! The house red wasn't to our taste but Solidea changed it with no fuss for a really lovely local one, a half bottle which some restaurants refuse to serve. Either one glass or an entire bottle are the options. Outside in the streets the Pepperoncino festival was taking place which is great fun but we enjoyed an oasis of calm in Gusto Antico ( we like to dine early). Finally Solidea was so friendly and helpful and chatted to us about the area and Scalea where she is from. The couple are both chefs proudly displaying their various awards at the entrance which is also really beautiful. The food is fresh and tasty, prepared with care and skill and you can really taste the difference. We have already booked to return and look forward to it.
